From the ranks of fan-favorite properties over at Nintendo, one of its most-successful as well as prolific franchises is The Legend of Zelda. Come the announcement for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the game shattered expectations for a sequel in many directions. One of the biggest elements from that was the game would be priced at $69 – a first for the platform.
And to no surprise, the game sold incredibly well. Within its first week, the title already shipped more than 10 million units. Looking beyond to the next The Legend of Zelda game, players were interested from a comment by Eiji Aonuma. The series producer hinted that the next releases could feature a playable Zelda which has yet to be truly embraced in a full game.
At the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo did just that revealing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“It’s up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule in a brand-new story in The Legend of Zelda series. The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, with a certain swordsman among the missing. Team up with the mysterious fairy, Tri, and use the power of the Tri Rod to create echoes – imitations of things found in the environment,” the press release synopsis reads.
“Then recreate those echoes whenever you like to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Use echoes of water blocks to reach new heights, make bridges out of old beds, throw rocks at foes – or find your own creative combination of echoes to do things your way. You can even create echoes of monsters to fight at your side in combat.”
What’s more, a special edition Nintendo Switch lite model is also prepared to release the same time as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. This marks the first special edition to hit retail alongside a new game since Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Pokémon Shining Pearl in 2021. You can read the full report by heading here.
