When evaluating Nintendo Switch Online last month, subscribers faced a nuance of fresh additions in just that one month. Comparably, July 2023 has not faced the same level of attention. Then, June featured legacy support for Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble, Blaster Master: Enemy Below, Harvest Moon, and Mystery Tower for base Nintendo Switch Online users for NES, SNES, and Game Boy respectively.
Additionally, the service went ahead to also feature the original Fire Emblem officially for the Game Boy Advanced virtual console; part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. Furthermore on the $50 subscription, Sega Genesis also featured titles Crusader of Centy, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Landstalker, and The Revenge of Shinobi then.
But as we inch to the end of July, Nintendo revealed both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons are out now for Nintendo Switch Online. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Speaking of pointy-eared Hyrulians, two classic Game Boy games from the Legend of Zelda series have just been added today! This dynamic duo of games is extra special because they can interact with each other,” Nintendo writes in the press release. “As you can tell, each game is its own, self-contained thing—they have distinct stories, settings, and characters. However, these games also hold a secret.
“Once you beat one of them, you’ll get a password that can be used in the other game, allowing the two games to interact with each other! We won’t spoil specifics, but this may unlock certain items, spur certain characters to remember past actions, and expand some story elements. We recommend playing the games in this way if you’re interested in a more connected experience!”
Originally, both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons were headlined for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Game Boy Advanced virtual console during its original announcement. You can read the full report by heading here.
