At Bungie, the developer since its welcoming party to PlayStation Studios has been steadily opening its development to more projects. Of course, Destiny 2 is at the forefront. Beyond that, the game studio is also churning out a new project – Codename Gummy Bears. Although little is known pertaining to the game, it is said to be utilizing Unreal Engine 5. But, it is undetermined when the game is to be revealed.

Additionally, Bungie is working on one of its oldest IPs, Marathon. Last year, it was revealed the game is in development as a PvE extraction shooter. But, new developments confirm the game is still underway with a further release away in 2025. One update recently shares that Marathon welcomed Valorant game director Joe Ziegler with veteran developer Christopher Barrett who got laid off at Bungie.

Amid the wait for new updates on Marathon, Bungie revealed recently that Marathon is to hit Steam on PC. A listing for the game is available now with a release window slated for “coming soon.” Aleph One Developers is also the listed developer which is a community-based, open-source effort on behalf of Marathon. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Alien forces have boarded the colony ship UESC Marathon in the Tau Ceti system, in orbit around humanity’s first interstellar colony. The situation is dire, and as a security officer assigned to the Marathon, your duty is to defend the ship and its crew from the alien threat,” the official synopsis reads on the Marathon Steam page.

“This classic 1994 Bungie FPS had a foundational influence on the genre, and is now maintained by the fan community. Experience authentic game play using the original data files, with optional widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation, just in case the original is too authentic.”
