Nearly two months ago, publisher Private Division disclosed due to unfortunate events of the raising concerns for the COVID-19 virus, the then-approaching Nintendo Switch version for The Outer Worlds would have to be pushed to a later date. In light of the delay, the publisher went on to clarify around the controversy surrounding the game’s physical version – announcing that the ‘Boxed’ version will now ship with a cartridge.
Now fast forward to the end of March, developer Obsidian Entertainment has announced that the Switch version will officially be arriving to the Nintendo eShop this coming June. The studio goes on to share that fans deciding to purchase the retail version of the game should anticipate a 6 GB patch which softens the experience for newcomers.
“This patch will optimize gameplay, provide additional hi-res textures, and include other fixes to provide the employees of Halcyon with the best gameplay experience. Please ensure you have planned accordingly and have available space necessary for the patch.” There are no mentions of additional features like HD Rumble or gyro controls scheduled to be implemented for the port.
With the Switch version set to embark for this coming June, Obsidian entertainment also disclosed that The Outer Worlds is also expecting to receive its first shipment of content expansions later this year. No information regarding DLC has been shared yet, but let’s hope the initial plans are not subjected to the changes influenced by the ongoing pandemic.
