Predating back to E3 2018 with the announcement of both Starfield & The Elder Scrolls VI, many were anxious to discover the next ounce of information on both titles, However, Bethesda was not hesitant to confirm that both games would not be present at future shows following. It was not until 2021 this year that more details – for one of these games, at lease – were presented.

In that, Bethesda announced that Starfield will be arriving in November 2022. Even more is that the game will be exclusive to Xbox. But while fans on other platforms were hoping that this is not true, Todd Howard did express a desire to bring Starfield to more platforms. But, Bethesda’s Pete Hines later went to clarify that the game is only for Xbox as he apologizes to upset PlayStation users.

As for the status for The Elder Scrolls VI, Todd Howard in a new statement to The Telegraph shares that the game is still in the early construction phase currently.

The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both [games]. It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine.

It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?’ Every game will have some new suites of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require.

Unsurprisingly, Howard’s statement also happens to align with a previous quote from Pete Hines on the game back in 2020. “It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations,” Hines shared in response to one questioning fan.

As for other plans within the Bethesda development pipeline, developer Arkane Studios is currently underway on a new project, Redfall. While little is elaborated on how the game is structured, the game is aimed to ship in 2022. Of course, the game is also unique to Xbox Series X|S as well.
