Ubisoft Presses Coming The Division 2 DLC For This Year Will Be “Entirely New To The Franchise”

In 2021, it was originally understood to be the last haul of content for Ubisoft & Massive Entertainment’s The Division 2. After more than two years of campaigning leading to the Warlords of New York expansion for the 2018 title, the team’s behind the latest title planned to drop the next-generation enhancement for The Division 2 and move on to new endeavors outside of The Division 2 presumably.

However, following the number of glowing support for Massive Entertainment with the handling of the content flow for The Division 2, the game studio shared that an additional year of content is on the way for the game. For what is to come from the update in the latter part of 2021, the developer has not pressed on an approximate release for the DLC as of yet.

As part of a new content roadmap blog post, Massive Entertainment issues that the upcoming add-on is “entirely new to the franchise”.

In the next major update, we are looking to bring a game mode that is entirely new to the franchise. Along with the game mode, we are investigating new ways to progress your agent with an emphasis on increasing build variety and viability. We will be revealing more about what lies ahead as the update gets closer.

The studio elaborates further by reiterating that development is in the adolescence state of development – pushing that a late-year release is the ripest timeframe for the content to arrive. “The development of this new update is still in its early stages and will take several months to complete. As a result, our next major update is currently scheduled for release late 2021 at the earliest.”

Massive Entertainment includes that Adrian Trasca & Yannick Banchereau will be helming the project as producer and associate creative director respectively with assistance from Ubisoft Bucharest. Presumably, aide from an exterior team is gathered to be due to the developer’s new work involved with Lucasfilm Games for a new Star Wars title. You can read the full report by heading here.
