It was just this year that we discovered that publisher Electronics Arts has officially put the codenamed ‘Rag Tag’ Star Wars title to rest according to a report from Kotaku back in January. The game initially was pitched to be an Uncharted-like title set in George Lucas’ film universe as a pre-mature successor to the previously cancelled Star Wars 1313 back in 2013. With the project holding Uncharted trilogy Director Amy Hennig at the helm, the game already was seeping with potential to bring the Star Wars video game franchise out of the hole it was dug into with DICE’s two Battlefront installments this generation.

Aside from the disappointing news that was discovered at the start of 2019, what Hennig had planned for her next project was left in the shadows with her departure from EA Motive following the studio’s merger with EA Vancouver earlier in 2018. That was until this week as detail finally broke on Hennig’s upcoming doings.

In a report from VentureBeat, Amy Hennig has partnered with Production Company Skydance Media to create a new game studio with the Santa Monica-based entertainment firm. Skydance is most popular from their work on projects like World War Z, Baywatch, and Terminator: Dark Tomorrow. It was also discovered upon Hennig’s involvement with Skydance that former EA Executive Julian Beak will also be joining this new game development team.

Julian and I are thrilled to be part of the Skydance creative team and excited to partner with Skydance to explore this new frontier in entertainment while pioneering new ways to tell immersive stories through technology.

With Skydance now tapping into the rich interactive game market, company CEO David Ellison had this to say about the new collaboration: “The interactive media landscape is continually changing and Amy and Julien are creative and visonary leaders of this evolution. Together, we will create within this new sphere the same type of event-level entertainment experiences that Skydance is known for in features and television.”

Concerning what Hennig and Beak will pursue with the two industry veterans now working for Skydance, that has yet to be disclosed following the initial announcement. The same can also be said for the newly founded team’s studio name as well.

What are you most excited to see from this new studio?
