Craze for Warhammer 40K continues in 2024 with the latest video game entry- Space Marine II. Rectify Gaming in our review scored the title a 8/10. “All in all, Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 provides a satisfyingly challenging experience that meshes gun play, mobbing strategy, ‘offensive’ defense, and classic RPG progression into one spectacular bundle.”
Moreover, plans for more transmedia for the successful tabletop is also on the way. Previously in 2022, it was reported that Amazon is planning a project for the property with Henry Cavill attached. However, there has been little on the matter. Additionally, it was also grouped in the same category as claims of another Amazon show for Mass Effect in which Cavill was also said to be pinned for as well.
Now according to an update from Games Workshop, the production is officially finding momentum with a TV show now underway for Prime Video. It also confirms that Henry Cavill’s involvement with the television series is also legitimate as well. In a report from Deadline, this new established effort is part of what can be an established franchise as creatives for Warhammer look to expand the universe.
“Further to its announcement on 18 December 2023, Games Workshop is pleased to announce that it has now agreed creative guidelines and reached a final agreement with Amazon Content Services LLC, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., (‘Amazon’) for the adaption of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe into films and television series, together with associated merchandising rights,” the press release reads.
“Under the terms of the agreement, Games Workshop has granted exclusive rights to Amazon in relation to films and television series set within the Warhammer 40,000 universe, together with an option for Amazon to license equivalent rights in the Warhammer Fantasy universe following the release of any initial Warhammer 40,000 production. Production processes in respect of films and television series may take a number of years. The Company makes no change to its forecast for the 52 week period ending 1 June 2025.”
Over on Instagram, Cavill also wrote on the matter as well commemorating the original shop he would buy his fix for Warhammer 40K from. “My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world. Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts.
“Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret. Watch this space, though—more to come in time!” Are you interested to see the Warhammer 40K show making progress officially?
