WWE 2K22 Gets Surprise Teaser During Wrestlemania 37 This Weekend

Here it is, while the COVID-19 pandemic inflicted a major setback on all contact sports at the start, most professional programming has resumed especially now entering 2021. And to end the build up for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), this also entails the annual Wrestlemania to take place. And it arrived on Saturday April 10 with Wrestlemania 37.

While the program was broadcasted, publisher 2K during a break unveiled a brief glimpse at the next WWE entry for the series. Developed by NBA 2K studio Visual Concepts, WWE 2K22 is officially real. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:

“Rey Mysterio, a high-flying lucha libre legend and one of the most exciting and decorated Superstars in WWE history, slips on his iconic mask, enters the ring, sets up his opponent, Cesaro, and connects with his electrifying 619 signature move,” the overview reads in the announcement post. “The video concludes with a note confirming WWE 2K22 will be coming soon and the tagline ‘It Hits Different.’”

Back in 2019 following the very poor reception of WWE 2K20, 2K announced to be shelving the next installment of the self-named WWE title to heal its reputation while a fallout of the original developer was still occurring. Most notable, game studio Yuke’s was reported to be departing from working on wrestling titles for WWE after two decades and was later confirmed for its leaving.

While WWE 2K was off the radar for 2020, 2K release a buffer title to keep fans of the organization occupied for the time being. In September releasing WWE 2K Battlegrounds, the game developed by Saber Interactive (NBA 2K Playgrounds). You can read the initial report by heading here.
