For the most part, the Xbox app has stood to be a conventional tool for users interested in checking in on the platform, friends, and achievements. The original Smartglass app gave players what they expected for a quick and easy to navigate experience. But that changed when Microsoft introduced a new Xbox app entering the new console generation.
With the new client, users could do much of the same already with new additions. The Xbox Party Chat would be properly integrated to call with friends. Additionally, remote download was implemented to pre-install games before even powering your console. But, a new feature appears to be on the horizon for the Xbox app.
In a new tweet from The Verge’s Tom Warren, the Xbox app is to include a new feature for users to edit, trim, and share videos on the go. Originally, the Xbox Upload Studio offered this on console, but now appears to be available via mobile very soon.
Moreover, Warren does express in a response in the thread that improvements to sharing content is to be reworked come the new update. “I think these are signs that improvements are on the way,” he expressed in his tweet. Ultimately this is a good sign for the mobile app and even more for the Xbox DVR system since the last major update was not that recent.
In the past, hope brewed Microsoft would deliver a fresh breath of air with the acquisition of Clipchamp. The deal conjured new expectations that perhaps the purchase could integrate better support for PC and even an overhaul on console. Perhaps this is a byproduct of the acquisition? Are you excited to see this feature come to the Xbox app?
