It was accidentally leaked by Microsoft a couple of months ago that Steam is likely coming to the Microsoft Store soon. This means players will be able to link their Steam account on the Xbox App. It was shown on a headline image for a blog post that also revealed the new Xbox UI.
According to industry insider, eXtas1stv, Xbox has been confirmed to be undergoing internal testing to add Steam to the Microsoft Store.

As always we must take information like this with a grain of salt. However, it is more than likely real since Xbox already leaked that Steam would be coming to the Xbox App. It’s unclear if Steam games will actually be playable on Xbox Series consoles, if that’s the case that would be a huge deal.
The Steam feature on Xbox could also mean it’ll be a big feature on the next-gen console from Microsoft.
Microsoft’s strategy has always been to be able to play games everywhere possible, and this would fall into that category.
Xbox boss, Phil Spencer confirmed in 2024 that an Xbox handheld is being developed for the platform. No other information has come out yet officially about the next-generation of Xbox just yet.
