Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 released on October 25, 2024, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. One of the biggest parts of its launch this time around was that it released day one on Xbox and PC Game Pass which is a first for Call of Duty. In an interview with GameFile, Phil Spencer confirmed that Xbox is the most-played platform for Black Ops 6.
This is the first time since Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 2014 that Xbox is the most popular platform for the game. It isn’t directly confirmed if that is just consoles or PC players included. Microsoft recently started a campaign that tells customers that their PC, Phone, and other devices are an Xbox meaning you can play Xbox games anywhere.
There is no question that Game Pass has helped the population for Call of Duty on Xbox grow strong. It’s also worth noting that Xbox has the marketing rights for the first time since 2014. All of the other years leading up until this point, Call of Duty was marketed with PlayStation.
Xbox Chief Phil Spencer also recently stated Microsoft is working on a handheld console and that more acquisitions are on the table.
