While the industry has for some time understood the horrific events that continued to take place at Activision Blizzard  internally, it became more evident with senior staffing at the publisher departing en masse. Namely, Blizzard Entertainment President Allen J. Brack abruptly departed from his position at the firm earlier this summer. But, it does not end just there.

Through a recent earnings call for the entertainment conglomerate, Activision Blizzard revealed that former Microsoft executive Mike Ybarra will be the sole leadership for the Blizzard Entertainment with the exit of co-lead Jen Oneal. She alongside Ybarra obtained the roles following the leaving of Brack in August. The story also confirms the delays for Overwatch 2 & Diablo IV.

In a new string of reports following the latest tellings of Activision CEO Bobby Kotich and his sexual assault allegations, both Xbox head Phil Spencer & Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan denounce the association with Kotich and is reportedly evaluating partnerships with Acitivision.

Spencer in an email to staff shares to be “evaluating all aspects of our relationship with Activision Blizzard and making ongoing proactive adjustments,” according to Bloomberg. “This type of behavior has no place in our industry,” Spencer adds and elaborates that he is “disheartened and frankly stunned to read” in regards to the events reported this week.

In the statement from Ryan, he writes, “We outreached to Activision immediately after the article was published to express our deep concern and to ask how they plan to address the claims made in the article. We do not believe their statements of response properly address the situation.” Both Xbox & PlayStation hold ties to Activision through industry partnerships over the last two decades, but this could be the last straw for both firms.

Previously, Spencer and Ryan aligned in agreement with console fanboy-like behavior at the start of the launch for the Xbox Series & PlayStation 5 consoles. The two told to denounce any support for the way users react to a platform of not their preference. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised by the outreach of both Phil Spencer and Jim Ryan against Activision?
