Last week, Yacht Club Games shared to be hosting yet another live presentation featuring news on the upcoming projects coming from the American game studio and its affiliated properties being published by the company. The announcement shared to feature new information suggesting yet another entry for the Shovel Knight series might possibly be shown in the approaching show.
Interpreting implications from the team could lead to suspicions that a new mainline title could be on the way. However, there is also the possibility that a new game could emerge in the same universe, but portraying a separate adventure posed as a side entry, similar to Shovel Knight Dig.
Now earlier today, Yacht Club Games unveiled Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon and you can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
Stepping away from the traditional console/PC platforms, Pocket Dungeons instead will be exclusive to mobile devices for Google Play and the App Store. Teaming up with Vine, the developer behind Krunch Time, the new Shovel Knight project will reprogram the world of Shovel Knight through puzzles and randomly-generated obstacles for the player to combat.
While playing, blocks of items and enemies will fall when you move. Moving over the enemies will deal damage whilst encourage the new combat system enabled for Pocket Dungeons, allowing you to chain combos and inflict more damage if your foes are grouped together. Introducing the a new companion Puzzle Knight, he will assist in your journey to hopefully escape the Pocket Dungeon.
Unlike other Shovel Knight games, Pocket Dungeon offers the full potential of 10 different Knights to play as who hone their own specialized abilities and play styles. Even more, the game will be split between the core story campaign, 2-player versus, and other unannounced modes for the game.
