2021 Top New Release On Steam Reveals Xbox Game Studios Profiting The Most On The Platform This Year

Among the year-ending traditions that the video game industry follows each year with events such as The Game Awards to signify the most successful entries to date, other lists and features are due to release as well sharing what are the games most entertaining to its users. So far, Sony Interactive Entertainment released a list of its games for this year on PlayStation 5 for new console users.

Elsewhere, Steam is anticipated to share its lineup of popular games. Last year showed to be dominated by the release of Cyberpunk 2077 when it released late in December. Despite the game launching the last month of the year, it managed to obtain the top-sold game of 2020 on Steam in its short timeframe of releasing at the time.

Now for 2021, the new roster has been revealed sharing a new surprise for this year. With a very diverse lineup of titles that entertained the user base on Steam, Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios illustrates to be the most profitable in gross sales, as per @BenjiSales on Twitter.

“25% of the highest earning new releases of the year on Steam came from 1st party Xbox Studios (the most of any publisher).” He continues in the thread, “Really shows how important PC as a platform is to the future growth of Xbox.” In the blog post, Steam categorized the top selling titles in tiers (Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc.) This year’s list consists of:

Battlefield 2042, New World, Back 4 Blood, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Resident Evil Village, Farming Simulator 22, Valheim, Outriders, Age of Empire IV, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, and Naraka Bladepoint. That is not considering the top grossing titles as well which incorporates ongoing IPS such as Grand Theft Auto V, Destiny 2, Dead by Daylight, and Rainbow Six Siege. 

Even then, Microsoft still breaks ground with that category as the same new releases among Sea of Thieves and even 2018’s Forza Horizon 4 still strikes the ‘Gold’ category for the top sellers list. Which games did you enjoy the most on Steam?
