2K Reveals Devin Brooker, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, And Michael Jordan For NBA 2K23 Cover Athletes

When expanding on new annual releases, Visual Concepts continues to deliver with its efforts at 2K. The team recently released WWE 2K22 earlier this year. However, the team previously shipped last year’s NBA 2K22 as well. Then, the developer shipped the game with four cover athletes: Luka Doncic, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant.

From our review for the game, critic David Rodriguez concludes that “I’m really enjoying my time with NBA 2K22 this year.” He adds, “The next gen versions have really benefited from the extra time in the market, and NBA2K22 is a superb improvement in every facet from last year’s game.”

Recently, 2K churned out its announcements for this year’s NBA 2K23 revealing a new group of cover athletes: Devin Brooker, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, And Michael Jordan.

After making 23 the most recognizable number in sports, it was only fitting that for NBA 2K23 we introduce the Michael Jordan Edition. Additionally, we’re thrilled to introduce a brand new premium edition of the game with the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, as no other player embodies the word ‘champion’ like Jordan. This limited-edition version will also offer players the opportunity to catch on-court action throughout the season with a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass* included.

Alfie Brody, NBA 2K Vice President of Global Market Managing

“It really is an incredible feeling to see your hard work memorialized on the cover of a game like NBA 2K23. There are so many kids that dream of pursuing a professional basketball career, and they can now also dream of being on the NBA 2K cover, whether they want to play in the NBA or WNBA,” Phoenix Mercury Point Guard Diana Taurasi said.

“It’s amazing to see myself on the cover of a video game that has such a cultural impact. And by partnering with NBA 2K and Every Kid Sports, Diana and I have the opportunity to open doors to hundreds of young girls in this country who want to express themselves on the court. I’m honored to be on the cover, and even more honored to use my legacy to provide these opportunities for the next generation,” Seattle Storm Point Guard Sue Bird states.

It’s a dream come true to see myself on the cover of NBA 2K. I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan since I was a kid, and it’s surreal to finally join the exclusive club of basketball greats who’ve been cover athletes. I’m also honored to share this year’s covers with the iconic Michael Jordan, who changed the game for all players who came after him, as well as two of the all-time WNBA GOAT’s, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, who continue to make a huge impact on the game.

Devin Brooker, Pheonix Suns Shooting Guard

In total, there are four versions available to choose from for NBA 2K23: Standard Edition & Digital Deluxe Edition featuring Booker whilst the Michael Jordan Edition and Championship Edition stars five-time NBA MVP Jordan. Both Bird & Taurasi are part of the WNBA Edition included as a GameStop exclusive.
