Noted, the Halo IP while iconic in its own right remains a tangible experience on console. Although there were some releases on PC following the launch for Xbox, the series has yet to leave a larger impression for keyboard & mouse users. However, developer 343 Industries is looking to change that since fully releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC over the past two years.
Additionally, the game studio is also striving to deliver a native experience for Halo Infinite on PC come launch. Instead of simply porting the title over to a different platform, the team aims to bring a truly in-house built experience to users outside of Xbox. So when you log into the game for the first time, it is to feel like it’s built for PC.
On Thursday, 343 Industries uploaded a new Halo Infinite PC Overview video sharing how far the game has come for the platform. You can watch the video in the footage below:
In previous Halo Infinite ‘Inside Infinite’ updates, 343 Industries has pledged multiple times for work on PC. In January, the team emphasized on proactive work for the specific version atop of tiding the engine at the time to counter the issues the 2020 demo of the game faced. Adding on to that, a separate update later in April pressed on specific features such as ultra wide support and cross-play is ensured for its platforms.
From this week’s video, 343 Industries reiterates on the matter explaining much of that will be supported. By extension, other additions are also on the way as part of post-launch. From that, raytracing is expected following the game’s release. “Most excitingly though, we’re looking forward to working closely with AMD to bring raytracing to Halo Infinite,” Xbox Product Marketing ManagerNoah Benesch writes.
“Raytracing is one our top development priorities post-launch and look forward to sharing more soon.” Once again, Microsoft is collaborating with Razer for more unique Halo products including mice and keyboards. But it does not stop there, the firms have worked closely to deliver in-sync chroma settings when playing the game in real-time.
Also officially partnered with AMD, Halo Infinite is to also deliver AMD FreeSync natively as well. The team also revealed a special edition AMD RX 6900 XT graphics card. “The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is the fastest gaming graphics card AMD ever developed and is the perfect graphics card to celebrate the release of Halo Infinite.
“The AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture powering our Xbox Series X|S consoles is the same architecture powering the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Limited Edition graphics card, designed to deliver powerhouse performance and incredibly high-fidelity visuals for 4K gaming.”
