A Shadow The Hedgehog Movie Is Reportedly In The Works

Following the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releasing in 2022, it was no surprise that Paramount would go head first into a full-blown franchise for the video game film adaptation. In one interview, producer Toby Ascher said a cinematic universe is in the crosshairs following how the sequel was received. Additionally, a third installment was greenlit alongside an upcoming Knuckles the Echidna TV show by Paramount.

Thus far, it is confirmed that the next film is set to hit theaters in December 2024. Not only that, but filming did commence for the Knuckles Paramount+ series last year and finalized before 2024 as well. But there is more to the matter now. Ahead of a proper trailer, circulating reports tell that Hayden Christensen (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Jumper) is to be tasked the role in voicing Shadow the Hedgehog.

Not only that, but reputable industry insider DanielRPK now tells there is already plans in motion for a Shadow the Hedgehog film as well. And if it is true about the casting for Christensen, then he is greenlit for two films already ahead of the official announcement. The leaker previously indicated that the coming sequel focuses on Shadow with the film exploring Westopolis – the city from the 2005 title, Shadow the Hedgehog.

What’s more, many are interested to see the route the film explores with Shadows & Sonic to cross paths. According to Únia filmových distribútorov, a film industry legal domain in Slovakia, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is rated PG-13. Many are hoping that what comes with the first movie to break out of its PG rating will bring more flavor to Shadow the Hedgehog. Even more is continuing this trend for the reported Shadow movie too.

Elsewhere previously, it was also reported that Paramount was exploring possibilities of a Tails film as well. However, since the initial report, there has been little word on if the production is still underway or not. You can read the full report by heading here.
