The decade-plus wait for a new Alan Wake game is coming to a close. Earlier this summer, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that the sequel – Alan Wake II – is to launch this October. Prior to the reveal, it was shared the game was in a ‘fully playable’ state which foreshadowed the title is cemented to launch later on in 2023.
Additionally, the Finnish developer did also verify there will be no physical release for Alan Wake II. Instead, it will ship via digital-only. It was clarified the decision was to offer more polish without the weight of an day one patch come the day of release. Even more, the game is expected to be present with new gameplay at the Gamescom Opening Night Live show next week as well.
In a new post from Remedy Entertainment on X, it is confirmed that Alan Wake II is to launch over a week later in a new swift decision. Now, it is pushed to October 27th, just ten days later to its originally scheduled October 17 launch date.
Worded in the post, it is said to better space releases for fans looking to indulge in the big releases coming that month. Already, titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is confirmed to launch that month with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, Detective Pikachu Returns, Forza Motorsport, NHL 24, Just Dance 24, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder too.
This week, another scheduled the same date as Alan Wake II also rearranged its launch date. From ubisoft, it was confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is to now launch October 5th with the game going live in the announcement. You can read the full report by heading here.
