Following the initial announcement for Grand Theft Auto VI, the 2025 release window has been on everyone’s radar since being confirmed. However, there are plenty skeptical about Rockstar Games meeting that promise. Despite the connotation, parent company Take-Two Interactive has verified that the anticipated sequel is set to release in fall 2025 later this year.
With evidence already pointing to the game in the latter stages of development also corroborates with the title to ship later this year, there is no reason to hesitate on such. Additionally, development does not stop this autumn with more platforms still on the way. According to one report, Rockstar Games aims to ship the PC version in early 2026 the following year.
But before you can play Grand Theft Auto VI, you have to buy it. Although there is understanding of a $70 price tag – the on Take-Two Interactive has pioneered since the start of the 9th generation lifecycle – murmurs have suggested possibly higher for a game of this scale. According to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Patcher, as per Video Game Chronicle, he is adamant the price is likely to hit retail.
“We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point, and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online. There is precedent for integrating an online game experience with a premium game, as Activision did so with both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile content prior to the release of its annual Call of Duty premium installment,” Patcher expresses on the matter.
He adds in his research note: “In Activision’s case, the integration led to a 40% increase in sales of Call of Duty premium; in Take-Two’s case, we think a successful integration of GTA Online and GTA VI can lead to a $100 price point for the premium game.” Speaking to Gizmodo, Patcher elaborates that the GTA Online integration for Grand Theft Auto VI prediction came following a conversation with CEO Strauss Zelnick.
Zelnick is not shy about increased pricing, especially from Grand Theft Auto VI. In an earnings call, he spoke on the aspect of dynamic pricing: “We’re so focused on delivering more value than what we charge. And that’s sort of the rubric. And any time we establish a price, we want to make sure that it’s good news for the consumer; that the experience vastly over delivers in the context of the cost. That’s the goal.” You can read the full report by heading here.
