Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20, 2025, after a couple of delays which worried a lot of fans. It turns out that after stellar reviews from many outlets and the game reaching 1 million players within its first day, Shadows is a success.
On Saturday, the official Assassin’s Creed account on X (Twitter) announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows had reached 2 million players, which has now surpassed the launches of Origins and Odyssey.
As it stands right now, Shadows has a Strong rating on Open Critic with a Top Critic Average of 82. It’s available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The sale numbers shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise. Leading up to release, it was said that Shadows was going to face record heights in pre-orders. Ubisoft also made sure the latest Assassin’s Creed title was mobile-friendly with it being Steam Deck Verified.
The first story expansion for AC: Shadows was already revealed to be ‘Claws Of Awaji‘. However, a release for the DLC was not revealed yet.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 set to launch later this year and strong third-party support anticipated, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Shadows arrive on the Nintendo Switch platform in the future.
