Batman Arkham Shadow Developer Confirms The Game Will Be Only Exclusive To Meta Quest 3

The Batman Arkham series as of 2024 has been left in a worrisome to say the least. After the send off that was Batman Arkham Knight nearly a decade ago in 2015, the return with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been an unflattering choice for many players. Recently, it was revealed that Rocksteady Studios is to fulfill its promise on Year 1 post-launch content, however, it is undecided whether more is to come following it appears.

Amid the state of this universe, there is some levity for fans. In that, it is not the last game. While James Gunn is forging how own DC Comics Cinematic Universe with connected video games, he did say that it will not dismantle the Arkhamverse in any way. And in a surprise announcement, Meta & Camouflaj announced Batman: Arkham Shadow.

A prequel to the original trilogy, Arkham Shadow focuses in on the up and coming caped crusader as Roger Craig Smith returns to don the cowl once more. Additionally, it was confirmed that the game is only coming to Meta Quest 3. In a recent Q&A, the developer cemented this by saying that plans for other platforms are truly out of the question.

This is the question I think makes a lot of sense in terms of, you know, people really wanted the game on other platforms, and we actually look at that as just like the ultimate compliment, right? But when it comes to what our charter is, the reason why we have the privilege to work on this game is because we are now a first-party studio within Meta within Oculus Studios.

And we think of ourselves very similar to other first-party development studios out there, whether it’s for PlayStation or Xbox Or Nintendo, right? And that our job is to make the best first-party title that makes you want to buy the hardware associated with it.

Ryan Payton, Camouflaj Studios Head

“So it’s very much an exclusive for Meta Quest 3. And one of the reasons why we’re so excited about and so proud to be working on this game is because we know that if we do our jobs right and we make an incredible game that everybody wants a Meta Quest 3 for, we know that they’re not gonna just play the game from start to finish, fall in love with it, and be done with the hardware. “

In the past, another highly-anticipated title that released for virtual reality was sought out for on other platforms. Previously, Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx was a highly-requested port for PlayStation VR. The idea was entertained, but, of course, was never fulfilled. You can read the full report by heading here.
