While developer PlatinumGames continues to prove its involvement within the industry in recent years with titles like The Wonderful 101 Remastered, Babylon’s Fall, and the upcoming Project G.G. underway, the game studio is still very quiet with other advancements its working on. Namely, the 2017 announcement for Bayonetta 3 has still yet to be followed-up on since the public reveal nearly four years ago.
In the past, game director Hideki Kamiya commented that the project is heading in a new, adventurous direction for the team. Additionally, he presses that the project is shaping into a likeable state for PlatinumGames. But, no official updates were made in either of these statements. Most recently, Kamiya told Video Game Chronicles that development is progressing smoothly; “going great” he explains.
Oce again speaking to Video Game Chronicles, Kamiya reiterates on his reassurance for Bayonetta 3’s state in development. But, he does share that disclosing information on the game is not his choice to make – even though he is eager for more to see what PlatinumGames has made.
It was more of a not definitely “something will come out this year”, but if there is a year, then something should happen, right? If you remember last time, I said that even though everyone was asking about Bayonetta 3, maybe you should tell everyone to forget about it for a while. I kind of need to keep to that stance for now because ultimately, it’s not our decision what to say and when to say it.
As much as everyone is clamouring to see it, we are really, really waiting to release it too. Everyone who is working on the project is of course very proud of what we’re doing and wants everyone to see what we’re doing. As much as fans are waiting for it, we are waiting for the day when we can show it. We want everyone to cheer us on as we run to the final stretch. We want to show it too!
Outside of Bayonetta 3, PlatinumGames is still well involved with Nintendo. Last reported, it was indicated that Astral Chain has been officially marked as a Nintendo IP. However, the developer does desire on porting the first game. But, it was later clarified that Nintendo has the last say for where the game arrives to, of course.
Coming up, PlatinumGames is finishing its last work for Sol Cresta. Originally an April Fools joke was later shared to be an official project on the way. The game is a sequel to a line of beloved arcade cabinet games aimed to release later this fall. You can read the full report by heading here.
