In terms of the current roadmap for the System Shock series, it leaves fans questioning the future of the IP. For one thing, System Shock 3 is still in purgatory with the surprising fallout of leadership for developer Otherside Entertainment. However, the IP happens to be building anticipation elsewhere from a separate game studio.
From Nightdive Studios, the team is working on the upcoming System Shock Remake. Currently, the PC version of the game is the focus for the development team. But, the firm does press that its ambitions also goes on to extend to console versions for System Shock Remake later on. At the moment, the PC version is still awaiting its release.
Recently, Deadline reports that Nightdive Studios is collaborating to deliver a live-action television series. In that, Binge is the second party involved to adapt the series to a TV show.
I’ve always believed that a live action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror. We’re very excited to see the talented team at Binge bring System Shock to life in horrifyingly real and new ways.
Stephen Kick, Nightdive Studios CEO
“System Shock is an iconic franchise adored by gamers for more than two decades and a series that helped redefine what it meant to play an FPS. We’re excited to do right by the franchise – and the genre – in bringing System Shock to life. Get ready for SHODAN,” said Binge Chief Content Officer Allan Ungar.
Kick is to stand as an executive producer alongside Larry Kuperman, Nightdive Studios’ Director of Business Development. Ungar is posed to be a producer for the project on behalf of Binge. Noted, the production also sits alongside another active project with Ubisoft for a live-action Driver TV series as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
