Like a stream on the side of the mountain, continuous claims for more Silent Hill games has surfaced for nearly a handful of years. Several statements indicating a new game, remake, or reboot is on the horizon. That somewhere in the midst of these alleged reports, there is truth to it. And eyebrows were raised eventually when Bloober Team, the firm responsible for The Medium, sign on for a deal with Konami in 2021.

But, what could this suggest? Well, the press release reads to be a “strategic partnership” for “development of contents and the exchange of know-how.” This appeared to be the Polish studio going under some form of mentorship with the publisher. But reports following went on to tell that the Layers of Fear team is being contracted to work on a Silent Hill 2 Remake quietly.

Well, the hat is out of the bag. During the scheduled Silent Hill Transmission on Wednesday, Konami unveiled Silent Hill 2 Remake with Bloober Team attached. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Dear fans, thank you very much for your patience,” says Konami producer Motoi Okamoto. “Silent Hill is back! As the first part of this project, we will remake Silent Hill 2. It’s been almost three years since we first approached Mr. Ito [for the remake].” Concept artist Mashsahiro Ito adds, “it’s been a really long time. But now we’re able to remake this title and finally we can tell you about it so I am very excited.”

Lead producer Maciej glomb of Bloober Team injected, “To ensure that we are keeping this unique Silent Hill atmosphere impact, we are working closely with original creators such as Mashsahiro Ito & Akira Yamaoka.” Creative director Mateusz Lenart continues with, “We want Silent Hill 2 to make the same strong impression today that the original game did 21 years ago.

“While we want to achieve the same end result, players expectations have evolved over time, and certain things need to be modernized to have the same similar effect.” Developer CEO Piotr Babieno also states, “ To put it simply, our goal is to recreate everything what made the game a timeless classic, but give it a new form which will draw players even deeper into the foggy streets of Silent Hill.”
