While players following Destiny 2 are familiar with how developer Bungie deploys new additions to the ongoing release from 2017, the firm is not yet prepared to depart from the game just yet. In fact, the team has already mapped out its plans for the next three years possibly. Originally, the team paved expansions bleeding into 2022. However, with The Witch Queen being delayed until 2022, that might extend the wait time now.
However, Bungie has yet to suspend any other plans regarding Destiny 2 either. Additionally, the team revealed last year that cross-play is to find a new home for Destiny 2 in 2021. But, it has yet to officially arrive to the game so far. Currently, the feature has entered beta so far for Destiny 2 with more details to roll out in the following weeks.
On Wednesday, Bungie revealed that Destiny 2 is to expect an update in the form of a presentation. Titled the ‘Destiny 2 Showcase’, Bungie expands that new information on all things for the game will be shared in late August.
“We sent out a save the date for next month. We hope you can join us on August 24 for some exciting news about the future of Destiny. These are our favorite times, and we look forward to sharing more with you, but for now… no spoilers,” the team shared on the new show paved for next month.
In recent months, Bungie has slowly became more transparent on its plans outside of Destiny 2. While the IP is still the hallmark for the developer – outside of the original Halo trilogy – Bungie is planning to break out a new franchise by 2025 reportedly. But, the new, unnamed release from Bungie is also to expand well beyond what Destiny could not reach.
According to a few job listings discovered earlier this year, Bungie is searching to create a new competitive esports ecosystem in preparation for the new reveal arriving in the coming years. But, no details were spared on what the new game will be just yet. You can read the full report by heading here.
