One of the biggest releases that came out of 2020 – and in the short window the game launched in – Cyberpunk 2077 was a phenomenon for the years to come. And amid the controversy that the game arrived in for most platforms, CD Projekt Red did the impossible and turned the game around. In its latest Update 2.0 for the base title, it ultimately hit the reset on many of the complaints that came originally.
Additionally, the change was so dramatic that even the game studio itself is recommending to start up a fresh save to truly experience this new update. Not to mention the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty which is the major story expansion than many has anticipated for the series for more than two years.
Now looking at what the series is to offer, there is another to the list. Thus far, it is confirmed a sequel is in the works – Project Orion. And now, CD Projekt Red shares that a new live-action project is in the works with Anonymous Content (Mr. Robot, 13 Reasons Why, The Revenant).
“The new project is at an early development stage and has currently commenced searching for a screenwriter to tell a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, and Bard Dorros will produce on behalf of Anonymous Content alongside Charlie Scully. Anonymous Content’s AC Studios will serve as the studio on the project.
“The project will be developed in close collaboration with the Cyberpunk 2077 creative team. More information about the project will be made available as the partnership between Anonymous Content and CD PROJEKT RED progresses,” CD Projekt Red continues in the press release. Already, Netflix has a full set of episodes for the Studio Trigger anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
However, the series is only to face on full season, it is revealed. CD Projekt Red Japan Manager Satoru Honma elaborated that the series met its beginning, middle, and end to its fullest extent and does not require further additions. If to continue would ask for a new story entirely which the firm does not view necessary. You can read the full report by heading here.
