
Dating back a few months to this past May, developer Behaviour Interactive celebrated the fourth year since the commencement of its growing title, Dead by Daylight. The studio hosting a celebrative livestream chat to discuss the future of the game and to thank its dedicated playerbase that has remained for the years the game has been live.
Elaborating on the coming additions to Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive disclosed that the online-focused project would be expecting a cross-play patch later on. In addition to bridging platforms, the game was also told to be inheriting a graphical overhaul to align with the appearance most games are associated with for the current generation. On the matters of cross-platform play, the firm did not spare how it would approach the feature for later on.
Howbeit, Behavious Interactive in a new blog post abruptly announced today that cross-play is available for all systems. That includes Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and both PC iterations (Steam & Windows 10).
The Dead by Daylight team is proud to announce the introduction of Cross-Play and Cross-Friends. These groundbreaking new features allow you and the entire community to join the world of the Entity together, no matter what platform you’re on.
Elsewhere when reading the FAQ for Behaviour Interactive’s approach to the feature, the firm does verify that while there is cross-play & cross-friends to connect with players, cross-save is currently not implemented. Stating that support will be elaborated more upon when cross-play is readily available.
Additionally, Behaviour Interactive also said that despite PC players utilizing keyboard & mouse support, the firm cannot say the same can be found for console users for the time being. “There’s no current plans at the moment,” the teams discloses. The Canadian studio also encourages players using cross-play to adopt Discord if deciding to play with friends across other platforms.
Previously this year, Behaviour Interactive shipped the latest chapter for Dead by Daylight. This one in particular grew plenty of attention with Silent Hill 2’s Pyramid Head and Silent Hill 3’s Cherlyn Mason were added to the game. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
