Although the fourth entry for the John Wick film series starring Keanu Reeves as the titular protagonist is slated to arrive next year in 2021, Writer and co-creator of the box office hit Derek Kolstad is currently underway to pen new projects centered in the video game industry. Although he will not be writing the script for new titles, Kolstad will instead as you expect be curating original projects in entertainment.
Most recently, Kolstad has shared his interest in creating television series for two popular games: Bendy and the Ink Machine and My Friend Pedro. In the interview with Comicbook, Kolstad explained that he was grabbed by the unique properties and at the time planned to pitch the two titles for a possible show. And now it looks that one grabbed enough attention to begin production.
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Kolstad will be an Executive Producer for a new 30-minute ‘dramedy’ television series for My Friend Pedro. In that, 87North Productions, D12 Entertainment, and Legendary Entertainment will be partnering together to make the show a reality.
Of course, the new series underway will be R-rated to properly depict the insane gunplay that is portrayed in the titular video game. Even more, Devovler Digital co-founder Mike Wilson will be posing as an Executive Producer for the show also. To sway unconvinced fans on the potential success of the new series – D12 Entertainment’s most recent project catering to avid video game players is Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
In other Devolver Digital news, the indie game publisher shared that its titular Direct presentation will be arriving next week on July 11. You can read the full report by heading here.
