Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Expansion Arrives Next Year On February 22nd

Predating back to 2019, developer Bungie already drafted a pre-determined roadmap for content coming to Destiny 2 for the next few years. In the initial scribe made for the coming expansions planned to drop for the series, Beyond Light is set to deliver in 2020 as it later did in November at the time. Additionally, it pressed The Witch Queen and Lightfall to ship in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

However, Bungie in a later update pressed that due to stresses of the COVID-19 pandemic from the switch of work culture to work-at-home, The Witch Queen would not ship until 2022 and presumably the following expansion to be arriving until 2023, of course. But, Bungie also met with other promises in the meantime. During that, the team did initiate the first steps of full-on cross-play earlier this year so far.

Last month, Bungie shared a dedicated livestream will be held on August 24th with new details on the future of the series. As you might predict, details for The Witch Queen will be shared then as well. During the show this week, Bungie unveils a new trailer for the game unveiling a release date aimed for late February. You can watch the cinematic trailer in the video below:

“We just gave you the first look at Destiny 2’s next expansion, The Witch Queen. Savathûn awaits in her Throne World as you will attempt to unravel her web of lies and survive the truth through a new campaign. New Lucent Hive Guardians wield the Light against you,” Bungie offers in the parallel blog post following the announcement.

“The Witch Queen is the definitive Destiny 2 campaign that captures the special feelings from memorable activities like Presage and our favorite Dungeons and translates them into a campaign experience. For the first time ever, you’ll have the option to turn up the difficulty  and sweat it out through Legendary Mode. Your extra effort won’t just be for bragging rights: Choosing the road less traveled will earn you powerful gear and extra rewards.  “

New additions make its way to Destiny 2 as Bungie unveils that crafting will be making its debut for the 2017 release. In that, weapons will be a scarcity for the new setting for The Witch Queen and making your own arsenal is the most efficient approach. Additionally, Destiny 2 is expecting its first melee weapon – the Glaive.
