Developer Verifies Warner Bros. Montreal is Working On A New DC Franchise Title

For all the Batman Arkham fans that are patiently waiting for the next title from Rocksteady Studios to be announced, it should be reminded that the upcoming game disclosed through a job listing implies the title to be aimed for the next generation of consoles. However, another title is also on the horizon from Batman Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Montreal according to a discussion on Twitter.

When questioned about the upcoming project that the studio has been keeping in the dark, Game Designer Osama Dorias did give one hint to the questioning fan: “DC franchise.”

Deprived from the vague tip that Dorias gave user @sarahlongthorne, there is not much that can be determined from what the studio might have next in particular. But, we do have a general idea of where the developer can be heading with this unannounced project.

Prior to 2018’s annual Game Awards ceremony host by Geoff Keighley, a rumor surfaced around the Canadian developer which depicted a new Batman title to be in development. Alike the recent tweet, another WB Montreal developer posted a “[redacted]” tweet which teased towards the current project at the studio: presenting a logo on the team’s shirt which shares the emblem of the Court of Owls.

Moreover, the teased tweet also led to the assumption that the game would receive a reveal of some sort of reveal at the then-approaching awards show. But more than half a year later, we already know that was not the case at all. Regarding what the studio is currently working on, this seems the most plausible seeing the developer’s history with the franchise. Already aware the development of Arkham Origins, the studio also developed the ‘A Matter of Family’ Batgirl DLC for Batman Arkham Knight in 2015.

Other previous leaks pointed towards a Suicide Squad title that Warner Bros. Montreal did orchestrate to follow-up Arkham Origins as seen from the game’s post-credits cutscene, but the game was later scrapped by the team sometime in 2016.

Would you prefer a new Batman title or a new hero from the DC franchise?
