Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the leading first-party releases for the Switch 2 within its first month. It’s releasing exclusively for the new console on July 17, 2025, and its performance in handheld mode sounds impressive.
First noticed by PC Guide, Nintendo Japan released a digital version of its Nintendo Magazine 2025 Special Issue, and it confirmed how Donkey Kong Bananza will run in handheld mode. It was revealed in small text that Donkey Kong Bananza will run at up to 1080p resolution, 60 FPS with HDR in handheld mode.
Donkey Kong Bananza is a brand-new 3D platforming action adventure. Players can literally crash, bash, and climb through almost everything in DK’s path and tear off chunks of terrain to swing around and throw in groundbreaking exploration. It will cost $69.99.
The Switch 2, when docked, offers up to 120Hz, but it’s not confirmed if Bananza will utilize all of that power thus far.
Before we get to Donkey Kong Bananza, we will have to get through Mario Kart World. The new Mario Kart title is expected to be the most ambitious game in the series with its open world and new game modes.
