Originally, when publisher Electronic Arts announced to be holding its second annual EA Play Live for 2021, it was presumed the firm will be hosting announcements for the upcoming season for Apex Legends alongside the next game from DICE, which was later announced to be Battlefield 2042. However, hinting from insiders suggest more is on the way.
In that, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb hinted at a recognized Electronic Arts franchise making a return at the July show. But, it was not until later that he poked at a certain series: Dead Space. Later on, Grubb discreetly mentioned that the new series will be Dead Space with developer EA Motive (Star Wars Squadrons) to be helming the new project.
During the showcase on Thursday, Electronic Arts & EA Motive unveiled Dead Space – a remake of the original series. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
Speaking with IGN following the game’s announcement, EA Motive & Dead Space Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola disclosed that most of the assets from the original game is returning to shape the new experience. But, he goes on to explain that much of the game is to be remade from the ground up to bring new life to the decade-old franchise from Visceral Games.
“Then in term of the sound, visuals, gameplay, everything: we are rebuilding all of the assets,” he tells IGN. “We are not porting them, it’s not appraising the texture or adding more faces; more polygons to the model. It’s really rebuilding all those elements: shooting, all the animations, etcetera.“
While the game did not make its way to EA Play Live this week, developer Full Circle did elaborate on the next Skate game. The team although not ready to share more on the project did ask that fans be patient for the release as it wants to get the game right. You can read the full report by heading here.
