While the demand rings more than a decade now for a new Skate game, it appeared that hopes for a sequel would not surmise. In 2019, it was reported that the Skate franchise would be letting its trademark expire since being renewed back in 2010. However, Electronic Arts filed a new trademark for the IP separate from the original made for the Black Box series.
Leading into mid 2020, publisher Electronic Arts reveals that Skate is returning with a new dedicated team to be hiring for the new endeavor. And while little information has broke on the project since, the team officially formed. In that, Full Circle was founded and it is presumed that early builds of the project is still underway for the time being. But, the studio wanted to be vocal on the coming endeavor.
On Sunday, Full Circle hinted at a teaser for the game to land on Monday. And a trailer did release, but, there is no gameplay. Instead, it is a lot of reactions to those watching gameplay and motion capture for the title. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
Although many might be disappointed, I view this to be fairly optimistic for the game. Why that is based on the statement from the developer, “our thing is don’t f**k it up,” says Cuz Parry, former Skate producer. Even the closing caption of the video “roll with us” asks for its fans to be patient with the process that Full Circle is taking to develop the game.
So for the time being, fans will have to sit until the team says to jump. But the wait will not be forever, of course. This is reassuring following the mess of releases from Electronic Arts this pass generation to say the least excluding a select few. It also corroborates a new studio-first initiative instated by the publisher previously. You can read the full report by heading here.
Are you excited for what Skate will become later on?
