Although the next year does not officially begin until this January, the lineup of annual sports titles arrives around this time in August. So far, 2K already scheduled its yearly installment of NBA 2K with this year’s entry featuring up to four different cover athletes once again (Devin Brooker, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, And Michael Jordan). Elsewhere, Electronic Arts is prepping its titles as well for this season as well.
In that, FIFA 23 is primed to make a return next month in September as Kylian Mbappé makes a cover return once more alongside Sam Kerr for the featured athletes for this year’s release. So what about Madden? This year, EA Sports decided the game would not feature a cover athlete. Instead, the titular John Madden – the legendary commentator which the game’s are named after – will be featured on the cover for all version for 2023.
This Friday, Madden NFL 23 officially launched across most consoles and is available on store shelves. You can watch the official launch trailer in the video below:
“Coach Madden’s enduring love for football has forever shaped the sport, and all of us are deeply proud to continue welcoming millions to experience that passion through Madden NFL. We’re eager to introduce a new generation of fans to the groundbreaking levels of authenticity and realistic gameplay in Madden NFL 23, all inspired by Coach Madden,” says EA Sports Executive Vice President & Group General Manager Cam Weber.
In a previous press release, Madden NFL Gameplay Executive Producer Aaron McHardy elaborated on the FieldSense technology for the new release. “Coach Madden had a vision for the most realistic 11v11 football simulation possible and with FieldSENSE the game is more authentic this year and beyond. We can’t wait for our fans to feel the control they have in Madden NFL 23; the new features we built with FieldSENSE put the power in their hands to make big plays all over the field.”
