Fans For A Brief Moment Could Play Gods & Monsters On Stadia

During E3 last year, particularly at the Ubisoft press conference, the publisher unveiled Gods & Monsters. From the team responsible for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – the studio’s next project continues on the trend of Greek mythology as players will face the titular foes and beings of the belief system. But with almost a year since the initial announcement, there has been little detail spared on the new project.

Back in October, it was reported that the coming title alongside Watch Dogs: Legion and Rainbow Six Quarantine would be pushed into 2020 abruptly to give the games more necessary development time in favor of the consumer’s impression of the game when it releases. But even months after that – there is still no sight of Gods & Monsters anywhere.

That was until this past week as users on Stadia found the game available to stream which opened eyes that have been in search for new details. What exactly was playable was told to be the E3 2019 demo that select press was able to see of the project last year.

This footage is from our E3 2019 demo, which was shown to select press last June and is now over one year old. Much has changed since then in terms of features, tone, art and character design, and even the name of the game. We are hard at work and very excited to finally show players what we have created at the end of summer.

Speaking with Eurogamer on the matters, it was also shared that these changes for the new title also will apply to the titling of the game. That’s right, Gods & Monsters essentially is a placeholder as Ubisoft Quebec plans to unveil the official name for the coming title in the latter parts of this summer.

Taken from how the response was worded for the “end of summer” for more to be shown, it could be interpreted that Ubisoft Quebec might not intend to showcase the title at the coming Ubisoft Forward next month. If true, that will certainly be a surprise as the other delayed titles alongside Gods & Monsters will surely be present in the approaching presentation.

Based off the recent financial report submitted by Ubisoft earlier in 2020, it is suspected that while three AAA titles will be launching in 2020, Gods & Monsters will not be included. Although we still have yet to see any tangible footage of the game from Ubisoft, it is insisted that there is still plenty of work to be done well into 2021 for the coming title.

In other unintended demos leaking recently, fans have also stumbled upon a playable build for Dead Island 2. You can read the full report by heading here.
