While the Sega Cinematic Universe still consists of Sonic the Hedgehog, the premise of Sega-based films remains an exciting space. Thus far, two films already has proven to be well off compared to the legacy of video game movies. And with the upcoming Knuckles TV show, that only grew in numbers. Of course, there is also a third Sonic the Hedgehog movie which was teased earlier this year.
What’s more is what could be in the third installment. Although there is no trailer just yet, there is plenty to get excited for. In one report, it was revealed that Paramount Studios has signed for Crush40’s ‘Live and Learn’ to be in the new film. Additionally, reports also point to the potential addition of Rouge the Bat with Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Jessica Jones) attached.
Now in a new press release from Sega, it has signed on new leadership to spearhead its transmedia venture. In that, former Disney veteran Justin Scarpone has signed on for executive vice president, head of global transmedia group. The appointing is said to be fulfilled April 1st, 2024. More interesting is that the firm does acknowledge coming plans from this arrangement.
“The establishment of a Global Transmedia Group will allow the company to advance its transmedia strategy across its wide portfolio of IP, such as Persona, Like a Dragon, Angry Birds, and more, in the coming years. […] SEGA aims to replicate this kind of success across its other IP. This kind of transmedia strategy will operate as a key growth pillar over the next decade.”
Similarly, Sega has acknowledged more IPs to face the same transmedia treatment Sonic the Hedgehog has kindred the past few years. Although it is unclear when, CEO Haruki Satomi and CFO Koichi Fukazawa said the firm is eager to expand this initiative. You can read the full report by heading here.
