For the future of WWE 2K,it was said that the series will be put on hold following the performance and reception of the latest entry, WWE 2K20. The decision was reported back in April of this year with uncertainty as to what will come leading forward. Around that time, it was disclosed in a press release that long-time WWE develop Yuke’s would be cutting ties with the franchise after two decades.

And while the future of WWE is still undetermined for the mainline series, 2K and Saber Interactive shipped WWE Battlegrounds: a more recreational take on the organization similar to NBA Playgrounds. But with Yuke’s out of the picture, it leads to question as for what the studio is up to currently.

In a new announcement recently, Yuke’s shares to be collaborating with All Elite Wrestling to develop a game centered on the new wrestling organization. You can watch the teaser trailer for the game in the video below:

As part of the announcement for the new project alongside self-named video game publishing group AEW Games, All Elite Wrestling uploaded a ‘1.0 Special Event’ video discussing the ambitions for the new firm. Among the general details in regards to the coming title with Yuke’s, WWF No Mercy Director Hideyuki Iwashita announced to be involved with the project.

“I was the director of WWF No Mercy for Nintendo 64 about 20 years ago,” Iwashita told in the video. “I’m very excited to have been involved in the Kenny-led new AEW wrestling game. Let’s create a dream wrestling game for AEW fans around the world, and for all fans of the game.” While much cannot be told on the new title, AEW Games does clarify if you stay informed on the development, you could find access to a coming beta for the game.
