Fortnite To Return To Mobile Via NVIDIA GeForce Now On Android & iOS, Sign-Ups For Closed Beta Goes Live

It was no surprise back in 2020 when discovering that Epic Games would challenge Apple’s terms & services for The App Store with its blatant attack to the tech giant with a video inspired by George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. Not only that, but Epic Games also reduced the price of its virtual currency to combat the company. The decision lead to Apple followed by Google removing Fortnite from The App Store & Google Play Store respectively.

While Epic V. Apple was underway for the courts, a report was made by BBC which puts light on the future of Fortnite for mobile players. In that, it was indicated that Epic Games & NVIDIA are collaborating to deliver support for GeForce Now to avoid the port of entry through the mobile storefronts. The pursuit was enabled by the decision on Apple’s behalf to restructure its Guidelines for its platform to allow streaming service running on Safari.

This ultimately resulted in the welcoming of both Google Stadia alongside Microsoft’s xCloud to iOS later on. Now, NVIDIA announced that Fortnite is to officially return to mobile with an NVIDIA GeForce Now release later on.

Alongside the amazing team at Epic Games, we’ve been working to enable a touch-friendly version of Fortnite for mobile delivered through the cloud. While PC games in the GeForce NOW library are best experienced on mobile with a gamepad, the introduction of touch controls built by the GeForce NOW team offers more options for players, starting with Fortnite.

Additionally, NVIDIA has announced there will be a closed beta for Fortnite on GeForce Now. Users that register with an RTX 3090 subscription will receive priority access to the playtest when it goes live. It is also clarified that an active GeForce Now membership is not required to partake in the limited time beta when it takes place.
