Microsoft has been quiet when it comes to the Gears of War franchise since the release of Gears 5 in 2019. According to Jeff Grubb, we should expect to see a Gears 6 tease this Summer at the Xbox Showcase, whenever that takes place.
“I’ve heard some stuff might be happening with Gears 6 this summer, so I think that tease sounds about right to me, Paris that seems like what we can expect”, said Jeff Grubb on the Kinda Funny Xcast.
Nate the Hate also joined the conversation on ResetEra saying he’d be very surprised if 2024 came and went without a mention or look at Gears 6 because it could be that “next-gen game”.
Another industry insider, shinobi602 also joined the discussion saying “wait until you see Gears. People aren’t ready lol”.

In August 2023, it was reported that Gears of War 6 is far along in development and could be open world. That came from Nick Baker of the Xbox Era Podcast who had credible leaks in the past regarding Xbox and its games.
No official information has come out yet regarding the Xbox Showcase this Summer, but we should expect one sometime in June if they continue what they did last year.
Earlier in the year it was reported that The Gears Collection was “being internally tested” by The Coalition. This collection would include the early Gears of War titles from the series. In addition to working on a new Gears of War game, The Coalition has been working on a new IP, and according to reports that project is not canceled either.
Whenever the next mainline Gears title comes out we know it will be on Xbox Game Pass day one.
