Discussion on the upcoming stream-based gaming platform by Google has been tossed around as a possible new alternative that would break the current fundamentals of how we currently play games with physical console units, but Stadia would remove that necessity of a tangible unit by using the power of online connectivity to play games directly through a subscription service hosted by the tech giant.
Google despite announcing a November-aimed launch timeframe for the service has yet to officially disclose when exactly players can sample the company’s first step into the video game market. While revealing more details on what devices will be available and an updated game catalog, Google was not the one to announce the platform’s release date, it was Geoff Keighley.
The Game Awards host did this trough Twitter by leaking the slated date for Stadia just moments before Google’s official statement. Keighley has done a similar act previously, one being the title and pricing of the Xbox One X back in 2017.

And while Google was late to the reveal party, they were however prepared with a “Everything You Need To Know Before Launch” rundown for Stadia. The video emphasizing on what we already know like the ability to play games through Google Chrome and accessibility of Stadia through any Google-supported device. One pinch of detail that is new, however, is that Stadia now supports compatibility of any wireless controller if not preferring the Google-specialized gamepad.
Just last week, Vice President of Engineering for Stadia Madj Bakar claimed to have defused the claims of Stadia’s control latency issues, stating that the service will be faster than local play later in Stadia’s lifespan. The service is said to achieve this by the implementation of predictive AI which will patch this problem down the line.
