For many fans aware of the current state that is Halo Infinite, the game is slowly piecing itself together to becoming a full experience. This past month, the ‘Winter Update’ for the free-to-play title welcomed Forge Mode beta, campaign co-op, mission replay, and two new maps. But what is missing is a greater flow of content still.
However, things were to change with the tease for Halo 3 multiplayer map ‘Pit’ being remade for Halo Infinite. At the time, there was no timeframe it would be issued for matchmaking. But, it was understood to at least arrive ahead of the new Season 3 ‘Echoes Within’. At the same time, match XP also was patched in to bring more accomplishment per game performance which is appreciated.
This week, a new December Update went live on Halo Infinite and with it brings the remade map ‘Empyrean’ alongside a new custom game browser and other appreciated features as well. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Previously scheduled to release in Season 3, we fully agree with players who felt that the Custom Game Browser should be a priority—it’s a key support structure for what players create in Forge and a pillar for the community,” Alex Wakeford, 343 Industries Community writer pens in the blog post.
“The team worked incredibly hard to land this feature so much further in advance, but with that comes the caveat that this is a ‘V1.’ It is therefore likely to have some rough edges, but we felt it was more important that we get this in the hands of players sooner rather than later. The CGB will, of course, continue to evolve with support over time.”
As for the greater direction of Halo Infinite, 343 Industries is transitioning leadership with original founder Bonnie Ross out of the picture. Instead, Pierre Hintze will oversee the helm for the game who previously earned his merit with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. You can read the full report by heading here.
