In the grand scheme of things for Halo Infinite, the launch for the newest entry in the series proves to be a successful launch altogether. The gameplay is solid, the story in the single-player delivers, and multiplayer remains the most fun in the past decade. From our review, “The story of Master Chief and Cortana is riveting, the Banished make excellent enemies and the multiplayer is the most fun I’ve had since Halo 3,” written from critic David Rodriguez.
But in the long-term, 343 Industries plans to deliver upon the promise of a full-filling title for the coming year. Especially with the multiplayer now being free-to-play across Xbox & PC, consistency is a key factor for the game to survive. Already, Phil Spencer emphasized Halo Infinite will be here for the next decade. In a recent roundup, we highlighted all promised content for the game so far.
Over the weekend, 343 Industries on Reddit confirmed that requested playlists for For Slayer, Fiesta, Free-For-All, And SWAT are to be sent out on December 14th.
Last weekend I said I’d be back once we had updates to share around near term playlist plans for Halo Infinite. I’m happy to report that a Slayer playlist is officially locked and loaded for the update next week. Four new playlists: Slayer, Fiesta, FFA, and Tactical Slayer (SWAT) will all be added via a services update on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Brian Jarrard, 343 Industries Community Director
“Next week’s update will also include adjustments to challenges including removing some particularly frustrating mode-specific ones, reducing some requirements for others, making the weekly ultimate challenge less intensive (getting there is tough enough), and adding brand new challenges specific to the new playlists.
He continues, “Personally I’m eager to check out a new challenge category that’s based on accumulating player score (a small initial step towards ‘performance based XP’). We’ll have some more details to share on Halo Waypoint next week.” And with Halo Infinite player counts breaking records for Microsoft on Steam, this is a good sign for what is to come down the road so far.
Following launch of Halo Infinite this week, a new trademark has surfaced by @ALumia_Italia on Twitter which could be laying the brickwork for the first planned expansion for the game. Dubbed ‘Halo: The Endless’, it is a name that is mentioned throughout the campaign of the new game and is suggested to arrive later on. You can read the full report by heading here.
