While players were initially under distress with the initial learning of Halo Infinite’s delay surpassing the Xbox Series X|S’s release into 2021, many fans accepted the idea to exponentially improve the state of the title for an overall upgrade to meet modern expectations within the video game industry. And with each installment of the ‘Inside Infinite’ campaign, 343 Industries continues to bring transparency to its users leading to the game’s launch.

Currently with the project now slated for a holiday 2021 release, developer 343 Industries finally showcases new information on the upcoming free-to-play multiplayer experience for Halo Infinite. In that, the game is to feature long-lasting battle passes as purchases are permanent and available years down the road. However, the question still lingering is where the series stands after how Halo 4 & Halo 5: Guardians performed.

When speaking on the IGN Unlocked podcast, Xbox lead Phil Spencer explains that the coming release is not a make it or break it launch for the IP. Instead, he reassures the series is still to be present a decade down the road. You can watch the segment of the video below:

“I- I don’t know if this is what you want me to say or not like with about the community but I’m just being honest: I don’t think about it that way. Like the future of the franchise I think Halo will be here ten years from now. Is Infinite like the lynchpin whether it survives that long? Absolutely not,” Spencer shares.

“Like the game has such ravid fanbase and such a history and lore that it’s just an IP that’s gonna be with us. We don’t take that for granted, but I definitely believe that in my core that that’s true. All of that said, when I think about Infinite I think about Joseph [Staten], Pierre [Hintze], Bonnie [Ross], and the team’s that are focused so hard on this game and it was so great to see the reactions of the multiplayer reveal from the showcase and people want to see more and we’ll have time show more stuff.

“But from the lation of the team, the inflating of their own kind of momentum when people kinda see the reaction of the multiplayer stuff look fantastic – such a great moment. But I never want- put a team in a position where they feel like ‘hey, this one’s gotta land or who knows’. […] We are so focused on Halo this holiday that fans will be proud of; that’s out most important thing to us.”

I think game teams – whether it’s our teams or any team out there – they put enough kind of pressure on themselves in delivering for customers and when you’re on a franchise that’s as big as Halo with such focus on- every step, every word that’s said, I trust the team, I trust the progress they’re making, I have confidence in Halo Infinite and I think that’s all that needs to be said there. I don’t think it’s a make or break – I just don’t believe that.

From developer 343 Industries most recently, the team pressed on its post-launch plans for Halo Infinite with the first planned season, ‘Heroes of Reach’. While a date is not scheduled as of reporting, the team does disclose each season will run for three months and daily content is prevalent with the addition of scattered events throughout.
