Since the start of February, it has been difficult to sway away from much relating to Hogwarts Legacy. While the game has faced heavy scrutiny for the continuation of J.K. Rowling’s universe, it has faced an excessive number of players in its first month. Prior to release, the game already broke one record becoming the most-streamed single-player title on Twitch. Not to mention also overshadowing Fallout 4’s highest concurrent player count.
Additionally, this is not the full release. Still, Xbox One & PlayStation 4 are expecting native ports alongside Nintendo Switch as well later on in 2023. Despite the success, developer Avalanche Software has yet to confirm any DLC for the new release. In a statement to IGN during this month’s fanfest, there was no plans for post-launch content at the time.
According to Giant Freaking Robot on Thursday, Warner Bros. is in early discussions to expand the universe with a television show on HBO Max. Last year with the box office release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, plans were slated for a spin-off of sorts for that storyline. But the outlet speculates this new finding could overshadow initial projects.
So far, it is understood that the alleged TV series will predate both the Harry Potter film series alongside the Fantastic Beasts trilogy as well with its 19th century setting. As for casting or a plot synopsis, it is too soon to determine that. The publication is most noted for its report on Bioshock being adapted into live-action. It was in February 2022 that Netflix announced an adaptation was in the works.
Elsewhere in regards to Giant Freaking Robot’s credibility, it previously disclosed a Tails spin-off film from Sonic the Hedgehog is underway at Paramount Studios. While little has developed so far yet, producers on the first two films shared its plans is to establish a “cinematic universe” for the series. You can read the full report by heading here.
