The discussion for The Elder Scrolls series remains tame in 2025. Although fans are still awaiting the launch of the sixth installment – still projected for 2026 – there has been discussion for a remake of an older entry. In that, 2006’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been tossed around in several rumors to being remastered for modern consoles. The earliest claim from 2023 suggests 2025 is a window for the game to arrive.
In more recent updates, leakers online have disclosed new details. One corroborated being developed in Unreal Engine 5; although ensuring a January reveal that never happened. The closest update from March this year did elaborate that the game is likely to be shadow dropped at its reveal which is suggested to be anytime in April 2025.
Now at the halfway mark for the month, images for the new game has surfaced online revealing that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is real. There are a slew of new screenshots including comparisons to the game in its original & new form. You can view those below:
What is more interesting is the platforms that appear to be available for the new leak. In a separate thread shared on Imgur – more images from the same source on Vicarious Games website – the promotional art for the physical and digital release suggest that the game could be an Xbox console exclusive. After Microsoft confirmed its trailers/ads will feature competitors logos, this does come as a very big surprise.
And to coincide with the rumor of an April launch only widens many eyes. This month, there are two major Xbox Game Studios releases on PlayStation 5 with Forza Horizon 5 & Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. But for Bethesda’s legacy RPG to be separate from the equation is one decision many would not have anticipated.
