While the summer is coming to an end already, it should be noted that the season kicked off with an exhilarating announcement revealing the IO Interactive is officially working on a third Hitman title. While the game is told to be the completing piece of the trilogy for the rebooted series, it will surely be an enticing entry nonetheless worth its playtime alike its predecessors.
One thing worth noting about Hitman 3 is that it will be a cross-generation release: meaning that the game will release on the current and next-generation line of consoles. So the question goes to beg the idea as to how the game will be implemented if cross-buy is an option. And thankfully, IO Interactive has addressed the situation confirming that the feature will be present when the game ships this coming winter next year.
Announcing the details in a new blog post recently, IO Interactive also spares that the upgrade for your respected platform of choice will offer a free version of the game and it will not cost owners of the game anything extra.
Yes, we’re doing a next-gen upgrade for consoles and yes, it’s free. Console players can buy (including pre-order) a digital edition of HITMAN 3 on the current generation of platforms and receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for no additional cost.
Elaborating more on each platform, IO Interactive tells that the game will simply be available to download when accessing the game on PlayStation 5 via the PlayStation Store. On Xbox Series X, the game will be supported through its in-house Smart Delivery feature for users transitioning to the newer hardware.
In anticipation for the game’s release next year, IO Interactive also announced that the game will also be offering the Trinity pack for those who pre-order Hitman 3. The add-on is told to offer 9 items in total with three sets to distinguish Agent 47 with attire representing each entry in the trilogy.
Elsewhere this month, IO Interactive announced that Hitman 3 will also be supporting PlayStation VR when it arrives this January. You can read the full report by heading here.
