While soccer/football is a world-renowned sport that nations across the globe recognize, there are different games for the sport that many play as well. For the sake of arriving this year, EA Sports already announced that FIFA 22 is set to arrive later this year in October. Most unique to this year’s game is the new EA HyperMotion Technology coming to the game.
However, 2021 also marks the return of Pro Evolution Soccer as well. In 2020, Konami announced that its annual entry will be skipping the year as the team will work on a new version oriented for the next-generation consoles later on. During that, the firm did press that it will extend its updates for the latest entry of the series until the next game is ready to ship.
On Wednesday, Konami announced that Pro Evolution Football is not returning, but instead eFootball. Renaming the fan-favorite series brings a new free-to-play experience that will be continuously updated following its release. Konami already plans to reveal more information next month and provided a roadmap for eFootball which you can view below:
“Starting with the strong foundations of Unreal Engine, which has allowed us to massively overhaul player expression, we’ve made a number of modifications to virtually create a new football game engine that will power eFootball for years to come,” Seitaro Kimura, eFootball series Producer said. “With the added power of new-generation consoles and by working closely with elite footballers, eFootball delivers our most tense and realistic gameplay to date.”
Alike the new technological advancements in FIFA 22, Konami introduces its new one-on-one tool Motion Matching. To do that, Konami signed on Football legends Andrés Iniesta and Gerard Piqué to help with the new creative process to bring an authentic feel to the game when playing. Additionally, Argentina Captain Lionel Messi & Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil Forward Neymar Jr. as Ambassadors for eFootball.
Konami adds that eFootball will also bring inclusivity to its games with cross-progression alongside cross-platform play between its platforms to be supported when the game arrives later this fall.
