Following the plethora of announcement and previews that were made during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase last month in July, fans are beginning to speculate on what is to come in the approaching August Xbox 20/20 presentation which has yet to be officially disclosed as of reporting. Among some possibilities that are plausible to being on the verge of an announcement, one priority to be presented is the coming four Teraflop unit, Project Lockhart.

Since the initial conception of Project Scarlett, there were talks of a lingering, weaker console to complement the powerhouse unit to market for the next-generation of Xbox. Of course dubbed ‘Project Lockhart’, we are still left in the dark about the system’s presence as we are approaching the brink of fall. But, despite what Microsoft has not shared, traces of the system has been uncovered with industry insiders disclosing more to be shared this month, August.

However, the most tangible proof of the system being a reality comes from Twitter user @zakk_exe who shared to purchased the controller for the new platform from a third-party storefront online. Upon receiving the carton for the new gamepad, the posted learned that the Xbox Series X controller is also told to be compatible with Xbox Series S.

Most interesting from the images provided for the controller is that the user acquired a white variant of the Xbox Series X controller. While the accessory is compatible with the newer hardware, it is also supported for the current Xbox One line of SKUs as well. Although the packaging does not specify which platform it is intended for, some believe the white option could reflect the design for the unannounced Xbox Series S design.

Collecting a few concepts that were passed around the few months, many are convinced the cheaper model is a white unit. Howbeit, Microsoft has yet to directly verify if the speculation is accurate, so simply take that as conjecture until properly disclosed later on.

Regarding the next Xbox 20/20, platform head Phil Spencer when speaking on a podcast late last month elaborated on the emphasis for backwards compatibility and the attention focused to the hardware arriving later this holiday season. While the technical architecture is on the matter of discussion, it is presumed the previous report for the Xbox Series S reveal to corroborate with Spencer’s implication.
