As July comes to a close, it is time to look ahead on what new details will arrive next regarding the Xbox Series X platform for the next-generation. Already hearing the “diverse” and expansive lineup for the new console from both Xbox head Phil Spencer and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, fans are hungry to learn more about the technical components of the system and understand what the new unit is truly capable of.

While the console has been advertised to be in grasp of native 4K resolution alongside performance speeds of 120 frames per second, that has yet to properly be presented. For the most part, Microsoft has elaborated plenty on the matters of backwards compatibility that will continue to be supported into the next-generation. The firm back in March disclosed that titles originating on older hardware will be converted via backwards compatibility engineering to perform with higher framerates, resolution outputs, and even HDR support without external assistance.

But leading ahead to this coming August, we could expect to learn more later on according to Phil Spencer. In an interview on the Same Brain podcast with iJustine, the Xbox lead discloses more on the matters of hardware specifications could be expected in the coming weeks.

Focusing, I think on the investments gamers have made in Xbox and making sure that continues whether it’s the controllers that you already own – whether it’s the games you already own. Respecting a gamer’s relationship with our product to me is just critically important and something that’s just become a pillar for the team […] I’m encouraged to be able to talk more about it – should be August.

Giving more context to Spencer’s statement, he references the continued support for user-based investment in the platform – either it being software or even accessories as he mentioned. But in particular to the conversation, he looks eager to share more on the matters of more backwards compatibility information for the platform later next month.

Earlier this month, Spencer has disclosed that Microsoft aims to ship majority of the Xbox One-supported titles at launch for Xbox Series X later this holiday season. While it does exclude a selection of Kinect compatible projects, there are suspected to be roughly 5,000 games to be primed for Xbox Series X when it arrives later on.

Elaborating more on the August event, it is also told from industry insiders that the unannounced Project Lockhart, unofficially dubbed Xbox Series S, will be shown off during an August Xbox 20/20 showcase. You can read the full report by heading here.

What do you hope to learn from the teased presentation for next month?

Xbox Series X is slated t ship sometime in holiday 2020.
